Since I was very young, I followed the growth and evolution of the Rancho Novo farm. I would always accompany my father on weekends, during school vacations, and especially during the harvest. For me, it was a great joy to turn the coffee on the drying patio and go to the fields on the tractor's trailer, watching the daily collection of the harvested coffee. My father, whenever possible, year after year, would plant more coffee plants, make structural improvements, or acquire equipment with the intention of growing production. Our family has always been involved with the farm, especially in post-harvest activities. We made it a point, even to this day, to carry out the drying process of the coffee on the drying patio and in the dryers on weekends. Over time, I pursued and graduated in Dentistry and distanced myself a bit from the farm. During this period, I remained curious and interested, so I would always ask how the management processes were going and what tasks were being done. And at the first opportunity when I had free time, I would be with my family on the farm. After the passing of my father, Delson Castanheira, who was the visionary, founder, and manager of Rancho Novo farm, I have dedicated myself more and more, and directly, to the activities of our coffee production. I return to this passion that has been part of my life and upbringing. Today, I am a dentist and coffee farmer alongside my mother, Cleia, and my sister, Dalyse, with whom I share the responsibilities and roles of Rancho Novo farm, where we produce special coffee with pride, love, effort, and maintaining a family legacy.
Dalyse Castanheira
Dalyse has always been curious about everything her father did; thus, she studied Agronomic Engineering at UFLA, as well as Master's and Doctorate degrees, and made her academic career a link with coffee farming. She combined her theoretical knowledge with her father's experience and practice, building a relationship of mutual learning, which only brought benefit to farm management! Her mother, Cleia, and her brother Delsinho, are dentists, but today they are increasingly involved in farm management and together form a cohesive and qualified team.
